The jubilation of October Celebration

So, you may remember that I have a deep love for the month of October. Every year, I do my best to celebrate all 31 days of it with sort of a "Bucket list" of fun activities. When Jake proposed on May 31st, everyone thought I was crazy for wanting to get married in October already. But what better way to kick off my favorite month than the ultimate celebration of a lifetime!!?! So, this year I didn't really have a bucket list so to speak, but I was still determined to fit most of those things in anyway. So, last Saturday I planned a 'date day' for Jake and I all revolved around 'fallish' things. It was so much fun. I set up stations all around our backyard.
First was the pumpkin carving table

Then after we finished sipping our pumpkin spice hot tea and our jack-o-lanterns were complete, we played a few rounds of bean bag toss. Some really talented friends of ours made the bean bag toss and even sewed the bean bags for our wedding. We love it so much and play it every chance we get.

I might also add that one of the other stations was our new record player. While registering at Target for our wedding we saw this little beaut and couldn't help but add it to our list. We didn't actually think anyone would get it for us, but secretly hoped that we would get that instead of more pots and pans. Some lovely friends from Pennsylvania gave it to us and we love it! It's a record, CD, and tape player with radio and the option to plug it into your ipod! It's amazing!

Next we went on a hike at the Izaak Walton. This is a beautiful area that Jake would spend countless hours romping around in during our first year of college. It was good to be back.

Jake playing with his sweet sling shot. I had these slings made for each of the groomsmen as well.

Then we ended the night by relaxing next to a fire with brats, s'mores, and our jack-o-lanterns. It was a wonderful fall day and I'm so thankful for the month of October. It's even more special to me now. :)
