Thankful

I'm currently sipping some sleepy time tea, next to the soft glow of a candle, while listening to some beautiful piano music, as rain gently pitter patters outside my window. It's amazing how lovely you can make a moment sound when you write it out and actually take note of the little things around you. The above description is pretty typical of my life, really nothing out of the ordinary, but I can make it seem special and cozy and comforting when I am grateful for the little things. Like how on a Sunday evening after we whipped together a super simple dinner of all the odds and ends in our fridge, Jake decided to make it special by setting up a cute outdoor picnic for two. The meal wasn't all that great, but we made it feel like an elaborate date which made all the difference.

Can you believe I'm 17 weeks pregnant?! I sure can't. Most people around me can't either due to my lack of baby bump. I took out my camera twice today, determined to take a picture of how far a long I am, when I realized, no matter how I stood or what clothing I wore, there really wasn't much to show. I can tell I'm bigger but, that's about it. Maybe next week I'll have some progress to show. I am super excited to meet this little one. And, seeing my adorable niece makes me all the more expectant!

Dear Baby,
Your daddy and I are so excited to meet you! I just recently convinced him into finding out if you're a little boy or girl at our next appointment. I can't wait! We are thrilled no matter what gender you are. At our last appointment your daddy got to hear your little heartbeat for the first time. It was exciting! If you are acquiring any tastes that mommy likes to eat a lot right now, then I'm pretty sure you're going to be a big fan of chocolate chip cookies, eggs, and peaches. Today I bought the first thing for your nursery and I've been dreaming of details and ways to decorate and make it a sweet spot for you and I to hang out. Keep growing in there! Your daddy and I pray for you often!
